“Eat, drink, and come together for a sumptuous Tuscan retreat at a stunning 18th Century Manor House.”
Tuscany: the birthplace of the Italian renaissance. Here is a region drenched in art and culture, where medieval villages perch on hilltops, vineyards produce world-class wines, and food is simply everything. And where better to enjoy a luxurious Tuscan retreat than in Il Maniero, an opulent six-bedroom Manor House situated near the Tuscany/Umbria border? Tuscany is a land of grandeur, and you can’t get much more grand than Il Maniero. With lavish bedrooms, a private pool, wonderful views, and a delightful Italian garden, this property has everything you’ll need for a truly enchanting Tuscan getaway.
Upon entering Il Maniero, you’ll be greeted by a spacious sitting/dining room, complete with an ornate Tuscan fireplace, traditional terracotta floors and a high beamed ceiling. Step through a dividing archway into a well-equipped breakfast kitchen, furnished with modern amenities for your comfort. Continue outdoors, into a vine-strewn pergola, where you can spend balmy evenings feasting on home-cooked pizza, fresh from your own pizza oven. The house is located just two miles from the postcard-perfect medieval village of Monterchi, home to a reputable greengrocer, butcher, and a museum – pay a visit on Wednesdays to enjoy a classical music concert, or spend an evening out dining at one of the traditional restaurants.
Natural Retreats pride themselves on offering the balance between luxury and sustainability. Each of their properties is developed to fit in with both the surrounding natural landscape and ecological constraints. Using clever design, each property also attempts to maximise natural light and warmth in order to minimise energy consumption. Each of Natural Retreats' destinations offers local produce on the doorstep, as well as locally sourced furniture and fittings, in order to support local communities and economies.
The Natural Retreats residences are constructed (in part) using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sourced timber, meaning the use of concrete is minimal. They also have selected a super-efficient dual rate domestic hot water and heating system, which is able to utilise the extra heat from gases that would otherwise be wasted. Furthermore, to meet the company’s energy efficiency targets, each development is insulated to a higher standard than current building regulations. Currently, the practice is to use reconstituted glass fibre for wall cavity insulation. It is generally regarded to be next to sheep’s wool in thermal capacity!
