"Travel from jungles to reefs, caves to wetlands, to photograph some of the most exceptional and unique wildlife of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula"
This eight-day expedition will take you deep into the protected areas of the Mayan World, giving you the chance to explore some of Mexico’s greatest natural attractions, and also to capture some incredible wildlife moments on camera. The intensely biodiverse Yucatan Peninsula is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including numerous endemic species, making for some truly unparalleled nature photography opportunities.
Your expedition begins in spectacular style with a boat-trip to a colourful coral reef, home to barracudas, angelfish and stingrays. Capture some underwater shots before heading into the jungle for a contrasting photographic experience, as you aim to spot brightly coloured insects and spider monkeys. You’ll also visit the archaeological site of Tulum, and photograph the iconic pyramid at Chichen Itza, to add a cultural twist to your nature photography tour. Discover a world of birds at Sian Ka’an, photograph the largest pink flamingo population in the Americas at Rio Lagartos, and take a night-time boat trip in search of crocodiles. With so many different photographic opportunities, you’re sure to achieve that perfect nature shot, and make plenty of magical memories along the way!
The deep green forests and azure lagoons of tropical America are the inspiration behind EcoColors’ vibrant designation. As well as keeping nature in the name, this sustainable tour operator also aims to put nature, and the preservation of natural environments, at the forefront of its operations. EcoColors’ mission is to deliver innovative and exclusive ecotours in the biologically and culturally rich ‘Mayan World’ of Mexico, and to enhance their travellers’ understanding of the natural environments they visit through ‘quality, warmth and education’. All of the company’s tours aim to show off Mexico’s natural wonders, whilst also contributing to the research and ongoing protection of the country’s natural areas.
EcoColors understands that natural habitats are fragile; the company therefore keeps group numbers small, in order to not exceed the biological ‘carrying capacity’ of ecosystems. EcoColors’ tours also contribute to local economies by incorporating visits to rural areas, thereby supporting the communities that inhabit these areas. To ensure that they stay at the forefront of any developments in the field of sustainability, EcoColors works with multiple research organisations including the WWF and the Ecotourism Society. By adopting a collaborative, multi-organisation approach, these agencies are better able to protect natural habitats and their inhabitants.
