"Rediscover your love of nature as you excavate your way through the legendary Suffolk Coast."
Immerse yourself in this wonderful wildlife project along the Suffolk coastline. Journeying to the centre of Orford village, you will spend your days examining the natural landscape, while you spend your nights at the idyllic Castle House. Staying on the cusp of such a historic town will awaken you to the true marvels of the environment. You will receive a heightened appreciation for the natural elegance of Mother Nature and the old ideals of life. Surrender to the glorious moments of early morning risings, windswept journeys and sophisticated conversations with your fellow volunteers. This is your chance to rediscover your love of nature.
Discover Havergate Island, conquered by the likes of terns and avocets, and the wetlands of Snape Warren. You will be helping to clear the small birch trees which infringe on the wetlands and prevent other plants from growing. Be prepared to travel by boat each morning as you will be conducting your surveys along the southernmost shores. Over the rest of the week, you will navigate muddy lagoons, excavating beaches and surveying small mammals. All of this hard work will be assisting organisations like The Marine Conservation Society and 'Buglife' with their data research into the natural landscape.
Wild Days Conservation, as an Environmental Social Enterprise, is fully committed to ensuring that its actions are beneficial to the natural environment. Working in partnership with wildlife organisations, Wild Days aims to combine valuable wildlife research with practical conservation measures. They also strive to consider the impacts (environmental and social) of their projects, and minimise these wherever possible. For instance, the use of motor vehicles during projects is avoided, accommodation is selected on the basis of being ‘green’ as well as comfortable and locally sourced food that has been grown and reared in an eco-friendly manner is favoured.
