“Work with conservation professionals for two weeks to preserve one of the World’s most beautiful and bio-diverse areas!”
Acclaimed as the most biologically intense place on earth, the Osa reigns as the crown jewel of Costa Rica with 2.5% of the earth’s biodiversity. While helping to protect this unique corner of the world, you will gain unforgettable hands-on conservation experience. You will have the opportunity to take part in a number of different experiences, including: walking the beaches to gather data on sea turtles; releasing baby sea turtles during hatching season; planting & harvesting in the wildlife-friendly sustainable farm; helping re-wild the Osa; and monitoring for reforestation efforts and wildlife recovery, including wildcats, monkeys, frogs, and more.
Join the general conservation program or specialise with the sea turtle conservation program. The project work is eight hours each day, six days per week. You will be fully involved in this important work and make a real difference to the area.
You will stay at Osa Conservation’s biological station, in a spacious room in one of their cabins. Mosquito nets, sheets, and towels are provided. The cabins also offer both an indoor shower and a tropical outdoor one.
One cabin also acts as a designated workspace area with a small library, an office, and ample work room. The beautiful station is powered by solar panels.
Meals are included, using ingredients from the project’s own garden and the project chefs are happy to provide for vegetarians.
In your free time, explore the area and take part in some of the optional activities including:
- horseback riding
- visiting waterfalls
- going to the river
- doing the primary forest trails on the properties
- walking during sunset to the tidal pool
- visiting Carate or Corcovado National Park for a one-day tour
