Arrive in San José. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Get a good night’s sleep as the next day will begin early and be action-packed!
Wake early and prepare yourself for the first day of adventure. You will be collected from your hotel and taken to Rios Tropicales Operations Center where you will be treated to a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Set up for the day with a belly full of delicious food, you will change into your rafting gear and head to a private rafting put-in on the banks of the Pacuare River. Launch your raft and head the 18 miles through stunning Costa Rican rainforest. Experience Pacuare’s biggest rapids. After the thrilling day, you will be collected and returned to Rios Tropicales Operations Center for showers and food.
Day three will be no less action-packed than the previous. A local guide will take you to the lush Calle Chirraca. After a safety demonstration, you will begin to climb and rappel down cascades of water, and zipline across verdant leafy canopies. You will also be able to walk across a 132 foot hanging bridge. Experience the natural world from a whole new angle!
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a private transfer to the famous Arenal Volcano. This three hour drive will take you through picturesque valleys, past mountains, and through gorgeous rural towns. Once you arrive, the sky trek will begin. It will start with an aerial tram, which will take you to the top of the reserve. From there you will explore the forest in a unique way: via a series of zip-wires designed to truly show off the beauty and biodiversity found in this part of the world.
Day 5 will allow you to get your feet back on the ground. Set yourself up with a hearty breakfast at the hotel then head out to Arenal Volcano National Park for a day of sport biking. You will travel between eight and sixteen miles (depending on energy levels and determination!). After an exhausting morning you will have a free afternoon to relax and recover. You will have an opportunity to soak your aching bones in famous hot springs at a small extra cost.
After so much adventure, you will have a much needed day of rest. After breakfast you will depart for the Rincon de la Vieja area, located in the northern Guanacaste. Once again, you will have the opportunity to admire the breath-taking views that Costa Rica has to offer from the comfort of your coach. Check in, settle in, and enjoy the hotel facilities.
Day 7 will begin fairly early, at 8:00 am. There are four main activities to fill the day. If the canyoning and canopy tour was your idea of heaven, you have a chance to do the same through the Rio Blanco Canyon. There is also a tubing adventure on the Rio Negro River with class III rapids, a horseback riding expedition to nearby waterfalls, and a relaxing end with volcano heated thermal waters and steam & mud baths. Exhausting!
You will depart for the coast and head to the Papagayo Gulf. Check in to the hotel, make yourself at home, and enjoy the facilities including a pool and the nearby beach.
Day nine is a choose-your-own-adventure opportunity. Relax at the hotel, head to the beach, explore your surroundings, or take part in numerous watersports from the hotel including windsurfing, sail boat sunset tours, rafting tours, canopy tours, rental of diving equipment, rental of kayaks, wave runner, and snorkeling. These do come at an extra cost.
Say your farewells, take some last holiday snaps, and head to the airport for the journey home.
