This tour focuses on rural Romanian culture, customs and traditions. Through giving travellers the chance to explore lesser-known regions, Untravelled Paths allows local people and tourists to enjoy a ‘cultural exchange’, learning from each other and enriching each other’s understanding and appreciation. This Rural Romania Experience gives travellers the chance to stay in typical guesthouses owned and run by local people. This means that tourists get a more insightful and immersive experience of the area they are visiting, and also provides local communities with a valuable source of income and jobs, helping to bolster the rural economies.
On many of their tours, Untravelled Paths encourages travellers to ‘live like the locals’, by getting involved in traditional rural activities and past-times including berry-picking, jam-making, weaving and wood-carving. This both enriches the tourist’s experience, gives them new skills, and also means that age-old customs can be passed on and protected. Conserving and appreciating Romania’s natural beauty is another important part of this experiential tour. Travellers have the opportunity to take enriching nature walks in the countryside in a low-impact manner, and eat fresh and organic food for the duration of the tour. This tour provides an excellent opportunity for travellers to get to know Romania’s rural side, whilst also benefiting local communities.
