"Not just for the cycle lovers, just make sure you can ride a bike!. In return you get a true Mexican adventure full of culture and travel!"
It’s a far-cry from your Sunday cycle-ride around the village, that’s for sure… Set out on two wheels to discover the breath-taking beauty of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula - by bike! This fantastic week-long tour takes you from the jungle to the Caribbean Sea, with plenty to explore in-between. The perfect blend of action, adventure and culture, the Yucatan Mexico Bike Tour is a cycling trip like no other; you’ll get the chance to snorkel on the world’s second-longest coral reef, swim in crystal-clear underground pools, visit fascinating ancient Mayan ruins, and bike through typical Mexican villages as you tour through the peninsula.
Begin in lively Cancun, where you’ll meet your professional naturalist guide. Get your tour off to an amazing start with a visit to the world-famous ancient Mayan site of Chichén Itzá, before hopping onto your bike for a scenic ride to Valladolid. Here, you’ll take a tour of the city, as well as visiting another archaeological site, Ek’ Balam, the former seat of a Mayan kingdom. Continue to Coba, where you can refresh yourself after a day’s cycling with a cooling dip in an underground natural pool (or cenote). Go birdwatching in Tulum, before kayaking through the wetlands of Mexico’s second-largest national park, the stunning and intensely biodiverse Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. As your tour draws to a close, park up the bikes and rest your weary legs with some well-earned relaxation time on a sandy beach!
The deep green forests and azure lagoons of tropical America are the inspiration behind EcoColors’ vibrant designation. As well as keeping nature in the name, this sustainable tour operator also aims to put nature, and the preservation of natural environments, at the forefront of its operations. EcoColors’ mission is to deliver innovative and exclusive ecotours in the biologically and culturally rich ‘Mayan World’ of Mexico, and to enhance their travellers’ understanding of the natural environments they visit through ‘quality, warmth and education’. All of the company’s tours aim to show off Mexico’s natural wonders, whilst also contributing to the research and ongoing protection of the country’s natural areas.
EcoColors understands that natural habitats are fragile; the company therefore keeps group numbers small, in order to not exceed the biological ‘carrying capacity’ of ecosystems. EcoColors’ tours also contribute to local economies by incorporating visits to rural areas, thereby supporting the communities that inhabit these areas. To ensure that they stay at the forefront of any developments in the field of sustainability, EcoColors works with multiple research organisations including the WWF and the Ecotourism Society. By adopting a collaborative, multi-organisation approach, these agencies are better able to protect natural habitats and their inhabitants.
