"We do all love a beautiful riverside view don't we? When you throw in rich culture, conservation and the chance to make a difference, this makes Valada a must!"
Begin your ecological adventure in Valada, a small settlement on the shores of the river Tagus in Portugal. This wide river runs through the village’s two halves, and is surrounded by dense woodland. On this Tagus Adventure, you’ll enjoy a leisurely boat trip along a river, and have a picnic of fresh local food on an island. Relax in your natural surroundings and, if you fancy it, take a dip in the river’s waters. You could also pay a visit to a tiny village to learn more about the local culture and on the second day, you’ll have a sailing lesson and get the chance to do some bird-watching.
Although there aren’t any tourist shops, museums or commercial hotel chains, you’ll have all you need with nature all around. From your boat, see horses roam freely on the river’s islands, and watch as fish leap out of the water around you. Make a positive impact on this beautiful natural environment by helping to clean up the riverside; through giving something back to nature, you’ll be rewarded with having the chance to discover the wonders of the relatively unknown natural paradise!
ImpacTrip offers unique volunteering trips and tours in Portugal, giving travellers the chance to enjoy unforgettable and responsible trips that combine volunteering with all the best features of a typical guided tour: getting to know the locals, dining at typical restaurants, absorbing Portuguese culture and enjoying exclusive activities. ImpacTrip encourages its travellers to escape from the pull of mass tourism and boring travel agencies and instead discover Portugal in a more responsible and local way, helping to fight social inequality and other hugely important issues by volunteering on local social and environmental projects.
ImpacTrip’s Tagus Adventure tour helps to combat pollution in the Tagus River and its islands; clean-up operations have so far helped to remove over 50 kilograms of rubbish from the area. The waste removed from the natural environment is later recycled by the municipality. ImpacTrip’s mission is to change the way people travel, and to ‘offer different trips that make a difference’. They believe that until you know the local people, you can’t know the place, and therefore help tourists to ‘travel like a local’, offering culturally immersive and authentic experiences of Portugal. Through having a direct positive impact, it is hoped that tourists will come away from their holiday having enjoyed a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
