"Delve into the lap of luxury during an exquisite retreat in the Yorkshire Dales."
Surrounded by Easter-egg shaped hills, craggy moors and deep valleys, the views from your three-bedroom en-suite lodge will seem like a cross between Bronte’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ and Snow White’s woodland hideout. The landscape is dotted with looming castles, hamlets, and walking trails that spiral through the epic countryside. You can expect spacious and bright rooms to sleep six, as well as a large outdoor deck – a perfect spot for a BBQ dinner with friends. This cosy getaway will serve as the perfect debrief from reality that you have been craving!
With the lodge as your base, head out into the Yorkshire Dales to explore: take a detour to the exotic gardens known as the Forbidden Corner and lose yourself in its fascinating labyrinth of tunnels, passageways and hidden chambers. Try and spot a few twinkling fairies or catch sight of the crinkle-faced gnomes pattering around the garden. Or perhaps pay a visit to the Aysgarth Falls - with trickling waterfalls and limestone steps creating a mythical setting, you will feel as you have stumbled into a dark underworld…
Natural Retreats pride themselves on offering the balance between luxury and sustainability. Each of their properties is developed to fit in with both the surrounding natural landscape and ecological constraints. Using clever design, each property also attempts to maximise natural light and warmth in order to minimise energy consumption. Each of Natural Retreats' destinations offers local produce on the doorstep, as well as locally sourced furniture and fittings, in order to support local communities and economies.
The Natural Retreats residences are constructed (in part) using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sourced timber, meaning the use of concrete is minimal. They also have selected a super-efficient dual rate domestic hot water and heating system, which is able to utilise the extra heat from gases that would otherwise be wasted. Furthermore, to meet the company’s energy efficiency targets, each development is insulated to a higher standard than current building regulations. Currently, the practice is to use reconstituted glass fibre for wall cavity insulation. It is generally regarded to be next to sheep’s wool in thermal capacity!
