The detail

"Did you ever dream of running wild in the jungle as a child? Stay in the heart of the jungle which inspired the Jungle Book and get to know the animals as Mowgli did!"

Beautiful, powerful, endangered. The tiger is India’s National animal, and the country is home to the world’s largest wild population. The Kanha Jungle Lodge nestles deep in the woods of the Kanha Tiger Reserve in central India, within the very forest that provided inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. Here, the endangered tiger is still ‘burning bright’. The lodge offers guests the opportunity to enjoy jungle tiger safaris in an open-top 4x4 jeep. Accompanying you on your tour will be one of the lodge’s resident ‘naturalists’: a wildlife expert and ‘encyclopaedia of knowledge’ whose job it is to narrate the secret stories of the forest.

The lodge offers 18 expansive rooms and two luxurious cottages with stunning forest views. All rooms have modern furnishings and facilities including baths, writing tables, lounge chairs and single, twin or double beds.

This family-managed lodge has sustainability at its core, with its owners striving to cultivate a legacy of ‘eco-viable and earthy tourism’. For the staff and management of the Kanha Jungle Lodge, maintaining the natural jungle environment in which they live and work is paramount. The lodge provides a platform for guests to appreciate and enjoy the un-touched nature that surrounds them.

This lodge not only preaches sustainability but whole-heartedly practises it. Kanha Jungle Lodge uses renewable energy sources: the cookers that provide guests’ food, for instance, are solar-powered. Guests can even request unique ‘solar cooking’ lessons as part of their experience. The lodge farms its own organic produce, harvesting a variety of fruit and vegetables for guests to enjoy. The waste produced at the lodge is dealt with in an eco-friendly way using decomposition by worms. This in turn provides fertilisers which are used on the organic farm.
