"Charming self-contained apartments overlooking southern Chile's Pirihueico Lake."
Discover the magical encounter of the dense forests of southern Chile with the waters of the glacial Pirihueico Lake at Huillín Club. Situated on the shores of this gorgeous body of water, Huillín Club consists of six cosy apartments, each boasting beautiful rustic wooden interiors, and a private bathroom and kitchen. From your self-catering apartment, which is equipped for maximum independence, you can overlook the gardens and the tranquil Fuy River. Spend each day exploring the forests and waterfalls of the stunning Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve, an area simply bursting with wildlife including endemic birds and the world’s smallest deer! With hiking, mountain-biking and kayaking all on offer, there’s no better way to discover southern Chile.
The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve is part of a unique and relatively unexplored ecosystem, deep within the Chilean Patagonian Rainforest. The reserve is one of the few places on earth with a biologically, ecologically and globally important temperate rainforest ecosystem – travellers are encouraged to respect the area’s natural rhythms, rare habitats and endangered species, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this beautiful world heritage area. The Huilo Huilo project’s scientific research and the conservation work being done in the area have received international attention and acclaim; one flagship project is the protection of the Huemul deer, a national symbol in danger of extinction. The project has helped to breed the species within a controlled environment, helping to ensure its long-term survival.
The Huilo Huilo Foundation aims to develop flora and fauna conservation projects in the area, involving local communities and entrepreneurs and taking a collaborative and inclusive approach to ensure the project’s success. As the Huilo Huilo project has grown and developed, so too have local communities. The project works alongside an extensive network of public and private collaborators, all committed to conserving the area’s natural and cultural sustainability. By adopting an inclusive approach when developing the area as a sustainable ecotourism destination, local communities are able to benefit and take ownership of the project.
