"Explore the mist-shrouded hill country of Sri Lanka!"

Head to the verdant, mist-shrouded hills of Sri Lanka. Escape the bustle of cities and explore a near untouched natural world teeming with wildlife. Based in Sri Lanka’s vibrant cultural capital, you will head out each day to explore the stunning region, from wild national parks to charming colonial towns.

These tours aim to use resources as wisely as possible in order to provide an incredible experience whilst preserving the environment in which they run. They believe that natural resources, regional communities, tourists, and relevant government organizations are core stakeholders in conservation and the development.

These tours are run by nature-lovers for nature-lovers and aim to best serve both nature and the tourists who can contribute to its protection, and the protection of its diversity as well as to equitable development within and among nations.

Day 1

From the airport you will be transferred to Negombo where you will have a chance to settle in and relax. You spend your first night here.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, Kandy. It lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy Valley, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea, for which Sri Lanka is famous. Kandy is one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka and is home to temples and host to cultural shows.

Day 3

On your second full day, following breakfast you will be transferred to the Knuckles Mountain Range, to the north-east. The range takes its name from a series of folds and peaks which resemble the knuckles of a clenched fist. Whilst this name was assigned by early British surveyors, the Sinhalese residents have traditionally referred to the area as Dumbara Kandu Watiye meaning “mist-laden mountain range”. The entire area is characterised by its striking landscapes often robed in thick layers of cloud but in addition to its aesthetic value the range is of great scientific interest. It is a climatic microcosm and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4

Day four will see you transferred to the Hanthana mountain range, a favourite region for hikers in Sri Lanka and an environmental protection area. These mountains too are often shrouded in mist but if you are lucky it may clear to reveal stunning vistas of the whole region.

Day 5

Today you will visit Nuwara Eliya, a beautiful hill town with touches of colonial style still remaining in the utterly Sri Lankan landscape. The hills here are full of tea plantations and somewhat more manicured than the wilds you will have seen over the previous few days but this too has a real charm.

Day 6

After breakfast you will visit Horton Plain National Park. The Park is covered with montane grassland and cloud forest. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning vistas and perhaps glimpse sambar deer nosing their way through the grassland. You may also see macaque and langurs and cats at either end of the spectrum: beautiful Sri Lankan Leopards and tiny, toy-like rusty spotted cats (one of the smallest members of the cat family). You will also get a chance to stop and admire the beautiful Baker’s Fall.

Day 7

On your final full day, you will head back to Colombo. However, the adventure is not over quite yet; you will stop en-route at Kitulgala for a white water rafting adventure. Finish the holiday with a bang!

Day 8

Say your farewells and take a transfer to the airport, either to head home or continue your adventure elsewhere!
