Spend your first day in Costa Rica rafting down the stunning Pacuare River. Launch your raft and head the 18 miles through stunning Costa Rican rainforest. Experience Pacuare’s biggest rapids. After this thrilling start to your holiday, you will have a chance to catch your breath and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.
Begin your adventure south. Transfer to the stunning Savegre lodge. The cloud forest of Savegre has been acclaimed as the best place in the country for bird-watching. You will have plenty of time in the afternoon to settle in and explore the surrounding area.
Day four is free for you to choose your own adventure! There are plenty of optional activities to pick from. We cannot say enough of the tour of the nearby reserve. Here you will catch glimpses of the shimmering quetzal - one of the most beautiful birds in the World! The reserve holds an incredible diversity of species so alongside the quetzal, you can spot trogons, hummingbirds, tanagers and other highland species. Although less commonly spotted, the park is also home to jaguars, tapirs, coyotes, and the black guan.
After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you will depart for Dominical and Uvita on the South Pacific Coast. This is the place to be if you want to avoid the crowds of tourists and instead enjoy serene beaches and lush landscapes. These two towns may be small but they offer plenty to do, from whale-watching on the whale’s tale, to swimming under waterfalls, to gliding serenely through mangrove forests. Have the day to explore.
You will start day six with a sea kayaking tour in the Marino Ballena National Park. Glide over the ocean to incredible snorkeling sites, then dive in and glory in the incredible marine life. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy as you please.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, head towards Palmar Sur, where you will be met by hotel staff and take a boat transfer to Punta Marenco Lodge. This intimate lodge only has the capacity for 30 guests so you can guarantee individual attention. You will stay in a beautiful rustic cabin built in the style of the Buruca Indians. The hotel is also surrounded by stunning virgin rainforest.
The day will start with a boat transfer to Corcovado National Park. You will spend the day hiking this lucious rainforest. A total of 6 natural ecosystems have been identified within the park and it protects endangered species such as the jaguar, puma, crocodile, tapir, poison dart frogs, and scarlet macaws. During your boat ride, you will pass through the biggest mangrove ecosystem in the whole of Central America; you will have the chance to spot monkeys, crocodiles, snakes, and a great variety of birds. You will also see Violines Island, the largest island in Costa Rica, famous for being a source of gold. The cherry on top is a relaxing picnic lunch on the beach.
Depart with your guide for a full day tour to Isla del Caño Biological Reserve 20 kilometers off the Osa peninsula. Enjoy a guided hike into dense rain forest or a snorkeling expedition in crystal clear waters. This incredible island was once used as a pre-Columbian cemetery and it is still possible to spot some of the stones rounded into perfect spheres by the island’s former inhabitants
Begin your travels toward San José where you will spend your last evening relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
