"Wake up to the noise of Mantled Howler monkeys is definitely worth a potential rough sleep! Fresh home-cooked food combined with rich in your face nature!"
Awaken to the roars of Mantled Howler monkeys outside your window! The Canopy Tower is a unique ecolodge atop Semaphore Hill, surrounded by the vast lowland rainforest of Soberania National Park in central Panama. The building itself is a US Air Force Radar Station, built in 1965, now repurposed as a world-class birding and wildlife-watching lodge. Inside the 12-sided round structure, there are two floors of rooms, 12 in total. The dining room, lounge and library are located on the 3rd floor at canopy level, where Keel-billed Toucans, Mantled Howlers, Geoffroy's Tamarins and two species of sloths often are seen right outside the windows. The Observation Deck overlooks the canopy of the national park, where we start our days with fresh Panamanian coffee and scan the treetops for raptors, toucans, parrots, tanagers, sloths and monkeys. It is also a favourite place to enjoy a drink at dusk, watching the sun set above the trees.
Guests at the Canopy Tower may enjoy one of several all-inclusive birding and nature packages, or prefer to choose their tours "a la carte". Birding tours are led by world-class, bilingual naturalist guides, and visit the best birding locations in central Panama. After each tour, return to the Canopy Tower and enjoy a cold drink and delicious meal, a blend of Panamanian and International flavours. #Birds

The Canopy Tower itself is a unique and innovative "recycling" project - taking a no-longer used metal building and converting it into a world-class ecolodge! A majority of the construction materials used in its restoration are salvaged materials from the former Panama Canal Zone houses and railway. From energy and water-saving initiatives and recycling projects, the Canopy Tower operations does its part for sustainability. A major initiative is the reduction of plastics, from buying food in bulk to reduce waste materials to offering water in jugs instead of individual bottles, as well as asking our guests to re-fill water bottles daily. We take great care to educate guests at the Canopy Tower on our efforts to conserve water and energy and ask them to join in our endeavour in their personal lives.
