"If it's possible, once you've had enough of the Brazilian Beaches and Rio, get exploring Fernando do Noronha in this amazing insight into Brazil!"

Take an alternative tour of Brazil, going off the beaten track to explore some of the country’s lesser-known but equally exquisite attractions. Discover the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, the stunning island paradise of Fernando de Noronha and the picture-postcard perfect Pipa Beach. Starting in Rio, gaze upon the colossal and iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer at the summit of Corcovado Hill, before exploring the city’s pulsating bohemian neighbourhoods and beautiful beaches. After a couple of days soaking up the atmosphere in Rio, you’ll fly to Salvador de Bahía, where the cobbled streets are alive with the sounds of Afro-Brazilian music, and Capoeira martial artists perform in the open air.

Continuing north, you’ll visit the quaint colonial town of Olinda, whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meander through streets of colourful and irregular stone houses, and visit ancient churches and monasteries. Visit the small archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, one of the world’s best diving locations; its Marine Reserve is home to a fantastic array of sharks, dolphins, tropical fish and turtles. Returning to the mainland, you’ll journey to Praia de Pipa, one of Brazil’s most pristine beaches - sit back and relax as you watch the dolphins leaping and playing in the water, marking the end of your tour.

Chimu Adventures aims to minimise its impact on the environment and support local communities in any way possible. The company strives to source guides, meals and transport from the communities it operates in rather than importing. Chimu Adventures prides itself on the fact that all operations for this tour are carried out by locally-owned companies, and they select locally-owned hotels which share their values in terms of social and environmental responsibility. The company's guides are highly experienced and qualified, and are paid above the minimum wage; since they are local, travellers are able to gain a more authentic insight into the communities and environments they visit.

Travellers are encouraged to minimise their carbon footprint whilst touring with Chimu Adventures, and are provided with information and advice on responsible waste disposal and how to offset carbon emissions. This ensures that guests are equipped with the knowledge necessary to help them protect the diverse ecosystems they visit. The company also practices what it preaches, with sustainability measures including carbon offsets for company/staff vehicles, and processes to help create paperless offices and reduce waste. Chimu’s ‘Pass it On’ programme empowers local people, providing funding to help Latin American communities develop their own infrastructure. Finally, Chimu Adventures also offers travellers the chance to make a positive impact by visiting community projects.

Take in the amazing panoramic views for a while, before continuing on to the Maracana Stadium. Test your bartering skills at the Mercado Modelo, a bustling market, and enjoy panoramic views of the city in the Monserrat district.
