"Retreat to the picture-perfect Honeysuckle Lodge and overlook tranquil Devonshire."
Nothing says tranquillity like birdsong and the soft whisper of wind across the meadow. You’ll fall in love with nature after your stay at the Honeysuckle Lodge, nestled amongst the trees to provide privacy for when you snuggle up in the evening. Honeysuckle Lodge is the perfect retreat for all seasons: from winter, when frost bejewels the grass heads, to May when the meadow is aglow with buttercups, right through to late Autumn when the last red apples shine on the trees. Enjoy the fresh Devonshire air and explore local walks like the ‘Big Tree Walk’, named after a huge Douglas-fir planted in 1840. Couples can recharge with spring and autumn escapes, welcoming traditional pubs, and dark starlit skies. Families will find a Devon holiday with plenty to occupy the kids, from riding bikes on Devon’s Tarka Trail to paddling a boat on the farm pond.
The Honeysuckle Lodge is picture perfect, with large picture-windows and a wrap around veranda that even has a porch swing. The décor within the lodge is original and quirky, with sturdy hand-crafted beds and upcycled finishing touches: a piano cover lives a second life as a headboard, and an old cable drum is refashioned into a coffee table and mini library. With a double room, cross-over bunk room and large open-plan kitchen and living area, Honeysuckle provides you with everything you need for a carefree self-catering holiday. So, you can relax and listen to the gentle ‘hoo-hoo’ of owls hunting in the dusk, and remind yourself of the true beauty of nature.
Learn about sustainability practices at the Honeysuckle Lodge in '50 Shades of Green'!
When you stay at Wheatland Farm you help look after the idyllic Devonshire country you came to enjoy. Honeysuckle Lodge is a high quality, yet low-emission eco-lodge that makes your holiday green without any hint of compromise on comfort. Wheatland Farm is run by two passionate individuals who not only manage their own land sustainably, but also to help other businesses ‘go green’ too, by spreading the message of environmental best practice, and educating others about how to use land sustainably. Don’t worry though – you won’t be lectured, just welcomed (and with a plate of Devon scones too). Wheatland Farm has been recognised for its sustainability, having won the Visit England Gold Award for Sustainable Tourism twice. They’re also proud holders of a string of local and regional awards, including gold approval from the Devon Wildlife Trust.
The farm has just four eco lodges, each boasting solar hot water (but with immersion back up!) 100% renewable electricity (mostly from an on-site wind turbine), excellent recycling and lots of ideas for adventures that don’t have to involve your car. Wheatland Farm proves that sustainability can be 'everyday', and that it's a lifestyle to be widely embraced. This is not 'wacky' green, just excellent sustainable practices that mean you can enjoy your holiday knowing you’ll leave Devon as gorgeous as you found it.
