[custom_heading center=”true”]An Unforgettable Brown Bear Experience[/custom_heading]
What do you know about Transylvania? If you’re like me, probably not much, apart from maybe the legend of Dracula (aka ‘Vlad the Impaler’).
Well here are some extra facts for ya’, to help you get a picture of the place in your mind’s eye:
- Transylvania is a historical region located in central Romania.
- The main language spoken there is Hungarian.
- When you visit, you’re likely to come across romantic scenes that take you back to medieval times – think horse-drawn carriages rumbling along dusty dirt tracks, shepherds tending their flocks in green meadows, and towering castles alive with ancient myths and legends.
- Transylvania’s Carpathian Mountains are home to wolves, lynx, birds of prey, and…
On the five-day ‘Brown Bear Experience’, you’ll visit the wild forests and towering mountains of Transylvania to see brown bears in their natural habitat.
Accompanied by a local tracking guide, you’ll learn all about how the species exists in the wild, and about their stunning natural habitats. You’ll spend a night in a bear hide in the Carpathian Mountains – the perfect place to wait for the brown bears to appear.
As an added bonus (as if seeing brown bears wasn’t enough, you greedy thing…) you might also spot birds of prey, lynx, and even elusive grey wolves…
You’ll also visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary (see what they did there? Libearty? I tip my punning hat to them), where you’ll meet rescued bears and learn about the charity’s important conservation work.

As well as plenty of unforgettable wildlife encounters, you’ll also get to discover Romania’s culture.
As you tour through Transylvania, you’ll stay at boutique hotels, and discover traditional cuisine dining at local restaurants and bohemian cafes.
You’ll begin your tour in Bucharest, the country’s buzzing capital, and you’ll also visit the quaint town of Brasov – from the vibrancy of the capital city to cobbled rural towns, this tour highlights the diversity of Romania.
Transylvania also boasts castles aplenty – you’ll take a trip to the majestic Peles Castle, and of course stop by at the imposing Bran Castle, aka Dracula’s Castle…
