Photographers for the Natural World

PreviousNext
Wildlife photography

Today is the final round-up of exceptional talents who are inspiring people to engage with nature. These are the photographers who capture moments and scenes that take people’s breath away and remind them that our world is a transient treasure we need to protect. We have given you a few words to describe the work of our favourites in the other categories but with the photographers, we think it’s best to let their work speak for itself. Enjoy, and don’t forget to check out their Instagram pages for more beauty!

During our trip through the Thar desert we passed many small villages. Houses in these villages are often mud huts with a thatched roof. As a result, you get a very special light every now and then. With our hostess in the photo we had a chai and talked about life in the desert.

We were lucky enough to spot this baby gator in one of the many waterways around the Everglades National Park. As you can see from the picture, their skin is very well camouflaged. Just the high pitched chirping as they called to their mother nearby, which gave them away. 🐊🐊🐊🐊

Sorting through some old #uwpics ahead of my upcoming 2019 humpback whale season, on the Silver Bank. Here’s one from a top encounter a few seasons ago. A mom & calf on one of those glassy calm days we’re lucky to get from time to time! So I’m stoked to be going back for more on the Silver Bank with @consciousbreathadventures with many more memorable swims!! πŸ“·πŸ‹β € .β € .β €β € .β € .β € #humpbacks #whales #explore #swimwithwhales #encounters #humpbacks #ocean #deepblue #onebreath #saltnomads #eco #ecotourism #travelawesome #snorkelaroundtheworld #uwphoto

Going to start posting a few shots from the Middle East these next few days as we have exciting news on the film we spent much of the last year shooting there!— Two young brothers from the Al Raith Kholan bin Amir tribe in southern Saudi Arabia’s Asir mountains, just across the border from Yemen. Known as the flower people, they often wear fresh garlands in their hair and wizra ‘skirts’ held up by the khanjar knife as soon as they’re old enough to walk. Even though we were total strangers, their father welcomed us into their home and honoured us with a lamb for dinner. When we asked why no one was wearing flowers, he said it was out of respect for a close relative killed in clashes with Houthi fighters just across the border the day before.

The actual monastery. It’s the most beautiful Orthodox monastery I’ve seen so far, so I’ll probably share a few more pictures β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘Œ , , , , , #macedonia #bigorskimanastir #bigorskimonastery #roadtrip #mavrovonationalpark #balkan #travelgram #instatravel #gooutandexploretheworld #stayandwander #roamearth #heritagesite #livetoexplore #summervibes #summersunselection #exploretocreate

✨Inner dialogue✨ Now this is something we all battle with. No matter our age, culture, religion, gender…the one thing we all share is that we all have our own inner critic. The inner voice that doubts, that isn’t helpful, that focuses on the negatives. WE ALL DO BATTLE WITH OUR OWN INNER DEMONS/DIALOGUE …but how it shows up and manifests can be in different ways – especially when we are challenged. ✨ The last week in Malaga and at the @acrologyteam retreat…I was challenged. It’s been a week of acroyoga and an acrobatic convention and was a challenge for the body and mind. Days were filled with acro jams (sessions when you just play), pre-hab sessions, handstand workshops and mixed level acroyoga classes. It was great…but it was hard. My level was lower than many there and I found myself getting frustrated with what I couldn’t get do. I unfairly compared myself to others who have been practicing for years. The inner voices were on a mission to knock my confidence and I had to continuously remind myself that my level is what it is right now…and whenever we are learning something new…it’s a journey. It takes time – it takes patience – it takes consistency – it takes perseverance – it takes dedication. ✨ You fall…you get back up and try again…you fall again…you keep getting back up… You falter in confidence…you gain confidence…you laugh…you work hard, sometimes it’s painful and you just cant get it fully, sometimes it flows effortlessly. That’s life isn’t it? It’s an experiment…a series of trial and errors…learnings…remembering to communicate well, trust in yourself and others and believing that you can do it. ✨ This Acroyoga journey is all of that (& more) and it is a wonderful one…and even though mine has really just begun (I’m going to be proud- like a peacock 😜of where I am now)…and I know it’s going to have a huge impact on my life. ✨ What has impacted your life in a huge way and why?? ✨ πŸ‘‰πŸΌswipe for venue & Acroyoga #innerdialogue #innervoice #selfbelief #acroyoga #peacock #whitepeacock #play #retreat #learning #community #personaldevelopment #practice #dontcompare #impact #motivation #connection #trust

Shiiiiiiiit damn! It’s @diving.dr.barney and I waving like dorks at the end of the peer as one of the largest fish on the planet glides past… the manta ray! After sprinting back to my room and grabbing my mask and fins, I got to swim with the majestic ocean giants for the first time in my life. Mega beautiful animals. Being filter feeders that swoop up plankton and jellies in the water column into those huge mouths of theirs, they are particularly vulnerable to the direct impact of plastic pollution in the worlds oceans. #arborekisland #mantaray #thegreatprojects
