Get Stuck In! Work with conservationists and make a difference around the world
The essence of what we try to do here at Eco Companion is to combine well-being and inspiration with work that helps to sustain and protect the environment. By simply choosing well when you travel you can do this. You can support businesses which help the community and the environment. However, for those willing to get a little deeper into the work, there are some incredible opportunities to work directly with the projects that help. The following are just a few of the projects on Eco Companion which bring you directly to the front line of this work…
Help to track populations of the incredible wildlife of Costa Rica whilst living amongst it. With this project you will collect data on monkeys, birds, invertebrates, nesting sea turtles, and neotropical otters. Five of Costa Rica’s six wildcat species live in the area where you will be working. In the free time you don’t spend wildcat watching, why not head out for some white-water rafting, dolphin or whale watching, horseback riding, or kayaking?
Dive into the heart of beautiful Mongolian culture and help to protect the Mongolian Khulan. You’ll be trained to use all of the equipment necessary to the work, including trail cameras. You’ll travel to the lesser-known regions, see the incredible wildlife of the Gobi wilderness, and get to know the locals, from monks, to nomadic herders, to farming families who have worked and lived off the land for generations.
Get to know orphaned, injured and rescued orangutans on their journey back into the wild. You will work with the orangutans as well as a whole host of other animals including: gibbons, macaques, reptiles, birds, and small mammals. You will also get involved with the vital educational projects going on in the local community, designed to encourage local development in the most sustainable way possible.
Head to the fringes of one of the World’s oldest rainforests, home to leopards, elephants, sunbears and Malayan tigers. Take Educational, Conservation, and Observation (ECO) walks through the forest. Explore and preserve the incredible limestone caves of the Merapoh region, and meet and forage with indigenous Batek women.
