"The chance to ride down the River Nile, Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Chimpanzee tracking and much more in one tour"

Get off the beaten track with this incredible safari adventure, which has been carefully designed to show you the best of Uganda’s remarkable natural beauty and wildlife. The country is an animal lovers’ paradise, with every day of this 10-day tour offering new chances to glimpse various spectacular species including chimpanzees, giraffes, the near-threatened southern white rhino and the endangered mountain gorilla. And all the while you’ll be enjoying the spectacular landscapes that surround you at every stop.

Your adventure begins with a day at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will see the only wild rhinos in Uganda. From here you will travel across the country to visit spectacular parks, including the Queen Elizabeth National Park and the mysterious Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Here, you’ll enjoy the unique opportunity to see the endangered mountain gorilla up close in their natural habitat. Boat rides down the river Nile, along the Kazinga Channel and across Lake Mburo offer travellers a completely different perspective on the variety of animals that live in this extraordinary setting. If you want a tour that offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the best that Uganda has to offer, then this is the trip for you!

The incredible story of the critically endangered mountain gorilla is testament to the power of conservation and, more specifically, ecotourism. Mountain gorillas are found in just three central African countries: Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a result of wars, poaching, and forest habitat loss in these countries, mountain gorilla populations sharply declined - just ten years ago their numbers were as low as 400, and the fate of these great apes looked bleak. Over the last ten years, though, there’s been a significant turnaround for mountain gorillas, with conservation efforts helping to boost numbers to over 800, as they stand today.

Ecotourism has played an important part in helping to bring Mountain Gorillas back from the brink of extinction, with the money made through gorilla tourism used to support conservation efforts. For example, funds generated through the cost of gorilla trekking permits have helped to provide funds for anti-poaching patrols, to support local communities, and to improve park infrastructure. By booking a gorilla trekking tour, travellers are able to directly contribute to the protection of mountain gorillas, whilst also experiencing one of the world’s most unique and memorable wildlife encounters! The future of mountain gorillas is intrinsically linked to ecotourism - neither can survive without the other.
